This study aims to systematically review and analyze factors contributing to caregiver burden among family caregivers of older adults with chronic illnesses in local communities. The research objectives include exploring the characteristics of older adults with chronic illnesses and their caregivers, and identifying factors influencing caregiver burden. Using Korean and international databases, the study employed systematic search methods to identify relevant literature. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 18 studies were included in the review. These studies, conducted in various countries, cover a diverse dataset on caregiver and care-recipient characteristics, including age, sex, chronic conditions, and various caregiver burden assessment tools. The findings emphasize the need for integrated nursing interventions and community efforts to address the welfare concerns of this population and support their caregivers. Key factors identified include the age and functional status of the care recipient, type of chronic disease, caregiver's health status, gender, education level, and social support. The study highlights the importance of personalized approaches and community-based support initiatives to enhance the well-being of caregivers and older individuals. This study aims to systematically review and analyze factors contributing to caregiver burden among family caregivers of older adults with chronic illnesses in local communities.
