MetaSSI is a framework designed to enhance personal data protection, cybersecurity, and privacy in Metaverse virtual reality platforms. The Metaverse, a fully digital environment with properties similar to the real world, requires robust identity management due to its complex and interconnected nature. Traditional centralized identity systems are inadequate for the Metaverse's security and privacy needs, necessitating a more decentralized and user-controlled approach. The proposed MetaSSI framework introduces a Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) system, which allows users to manage their identities independently, ensuring privacy, security, and interoperability across multiple Metaverse platforms. SSI empowers users to control their personal data, share it selectively, and maintain autonomy over their digital identities. The framework utilizes decentralized identifiers (DIDs), verifiable credentials, and blockchain technology to ensure secure and tamper-proof identity management. Mathematical modeling and rigorous proof of work validate the framework's effectiveness against modern cyber threats. The framework also includes mechanisms for credential issuance, verification, and revocation, ensuring secure and reliable authentication. Comparative analysis with existing authentication methods highlights the superiority of MetaSSI in terms of security, privacy, and user control.
