This research explores the evolving trends and strategies of parental mediation in the digital environment, focusing on how parents guide and safeguard their children's online experiences. The study addresses key questions about parental mediation practices, content restrictions, rules established, exposure to inappropriate content, and the impact of parents' computer literacy on children's internet safety. A systematic literature review, conducted according to PRISMA guidelines, analyzed 49 studies from 11 databases. The findings highlight a shift towards more proactive parental involvement, with active mediation strategies gaining recognition alongside restrictive approaches. Parents are increasingly forbidding specific internet content and emphasizing safety and privacy concerns. The study also emphasizes the importance of parents' digital proficiency, as it influences their ability to guide and supervise their children's online activities effectively. The research contributes to a deeper understanding of how parents navigate their children's internet experiences and the challenges they face in ensuring responsible and secure online engagement. Despite limitations, the study provides valuable insights for practitioners, researchers, policymakers, educators, and parents, highlighting the need for active parental involvement and enhanced digital literacy. This research explores the evolving trends and strategies of parental mediation in the digital environment, focusing on how parents guide and safeguard their children's online experiences.
