This study provides a comprehensive analysis of green economic literature over the past decade, utilizing bibliometric methods to examine 4157 papers from the Web of Science (WoS) core collection. The research highlights key authors, subjects, publishing sources, and countries in green economic studies, and constructs detailed visual maps based on referenced sources. It underscores the importance of bibliometric tools in assessing research impact and productivity. The study leverages the WoS Core Collection, specifically the Science Citation Index Expanded and the Social Sciences Citation Index, to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of green economic research. The data reveals a growing significance of green economics and expanding academic discussions on sustainable economic practices. The research identifies emerging research directions that could inform considerations for a sustainable economy. Despite the marked increase in publications in recent years, the field remains in its infancy with limited quantitative studies. Consequently, many findings remain inconclusive, and numerous aspects in literature remain unexplored. The study outlines both practical and theoretical implications of its findings.
The study finds that the number of publications in green economics has increased significantly, with a peak in 2023. The citation count has also increased, indicating growing impact and influence of research in this field. The analysis of author impact and production trends reveals that certain authors have a high h-index, g-index, and m-index, indicating significant influence. The study also identifies the most prominent countries in green economics, with China, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Turkey leading in terms of citations. The research highlights the importance of international collaboration and the emergence of specific production centers in green economics. The study also identifies key documents and keywords in green economics, with "green economic growth" being the most prominent. The analysis of keywords clusters reveals four distinct clusters, with "green economic growth" being the most influential. The study also identifies emerging trends in green economics, including the role of technology, green finance, and green jobs. The research concludes that the field of green economics is growing, but there is a need for more diverse representation and collaboration across different sectors to ensure a comprehensive and globally relevant approach to sustainable development. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of green economic literature over the past decade, utilizing bibliometric methods to examine 4157 papers from the Web of Science (WoS) core collection.
