This research provides a comprehensive analysis of the body of work in green economics and sustainable economies by reviewing and categorizing 4157 papers from the Web of Science (WoS) core collection. The study highlights key authors, subjects, publishing sources, and nations relevant to green economic studies, constructing detailed visual maps based on referenced sources. By conducting a thorough bibliometric analysis, the study underscores the importance of using such tools to gauge research impact and productivity. The data reveals a growing landscape of this field, indicating its increasing significance and expanding academic discussions around sustainable economic practices. Despite the marked increase in publications, the field remains in its infancy, with limited quantitative studies conducted. The study outlines both practical and theoretical implications, emphasizing the need for comprehensive and interconnected approaches to green economic development. The research also highlights the importance of education, entrepreneurial opportunities, and ethical considerations in shaping a sustainable future. The findings suggest that the field is experiencing growth and maturation, with potential for further advancement, particularly in formally modeling green economics for practical implementation. However, the study also identifies limitations, such as the lack of diversity in authorship and geographical representation, and the need for more collaborative efforts across different sectors. This research provides a comprehensive analysis of the body of work in green economics and sustainable economies by reviewing and categorizing 4157 papers from the Web of Science (WoS) core collection.
