DISEÑO Y VALIDACIÓN DE UN INSTRUMENTO PARA MEDIR EL CLIMA ESCOLAR EN INSTITUCIONES EDUCATIVAS

Bogotá, D.C. 2013 | Yurani Canchón Leiva, Gildardo Plaza Serrato, Gustavo Zapata Sánchez
This study aimed to design and validate an instrument for measuring the school environment in basic and secondary education institutions in Bogotá. The research focused on the perceptions expressed by teachers themselves. The methodology used was quantitative, with a psychometric characteristic, involving the application of standardized measures and statistical data analysis. A questionnaire consisting of 50 items was administered to a non-probabilistic intentional sample of 432 teachers from basic and secondary education institutions in Bogotá. The study proposed six dimensions that compose the school environment: structure and processes, infrastructure, decision-making, interpersonal relationships, compensation, and sense of belonging. The results showed high reliability, as indicated by Cronbach's alpha (0.94), and construct validity explaining 48% of the variance for seven factors corresponding to the aforementioned six dimensions. The instrument was found to have adequate psychometric properties, is relevant to the reality of educational institutions, and significantly contributes to an effective diagnosis of the school environment from the teachers' perspective. This study aimed to design and validate an instrument for measuring the school environment in basic and secondary education institutions in Bogotá.
