This systematic literature review examines the integration of ChatGPT into educational settings, analyzing 14 empirical studies published between 2022 and April 10, 2023. The review follows PRISMA 2020 and Okoli's guidelines for systematic reviews, using Creswell's coding techniques to extract and interpret data. The findings reveal that ChatGPT is used by students as a virtual intelligent assistant, offering instant feedback, on-demand answers, and explanations of complex topics. It also enhances writing and language skills by generating ideas, composing essays, summarizing, translating, paraphrasing, and checking grammar. Students use it to facilitate directed and personalized learning by understanding concepts, completing homework, and clarifying assignments. However, overuse may negatively impact innovative capacities and collaborative learning. Educators use ChatGPT to create lesson plans, generate quizzes, and provide resources, improving productivity and teaching methods. Despite benefits, studies emphasize the need for structured training, support, and guidelines to mitigate drawbacks. This includes developing critical evaluation skills and integrating human interaction into AI-based learning. The review highlights the importance of ongoing research and collaboration with policymakers to refine AI use in education. The results show that ChatGPT has significant potential in education but requires careful implementation to ensure responsible and effective use. The review also notes the need for further research to address challenges, such as ensuring the accuracy of information provided by ChatGPT and its impact on students' cognitive development and critical thinking. Overall, the review provides insights into the potential and challenges of integrating ChatGPT into education, emphasizing the importance of balanced use and training for both students and educators. This systematic literature review examines the integration of ChatGPT into educational settings, analyzing 14 empirical studies published between 2022 and April 10, 2023.
