AliView is an alignment viewer and editor designed to handle large datasets in the era of next-generation sequencing. It supports commonly used formats such as FASTA, Phylip, Nexus, Clustal, and MSF, and offers an intuitive graphical interface for inspecting, sorting, deleting, merging, and realigning sequences. AliView is released as open-source software under the GNU General Public License, version 3.0 (GPLv3), and is available on GitHub. The program is cross-platform and has been extensively tested on Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows systems. Key features include the ability to handle large alignments with low memory impact, merge overlapping sequences into consensus sequences, and support the design of universal degenerate primers. AliView also includes additional functionalities such as manual editing, undo/redo, visual cues for consensus characters, and search capabilities. The user interface is designed to be intuitive and easy to use, making it a valuable tool for researchers working with large datasets.AliView is an alignment viewer and editor designed to handle large datasets in the era of next-generation sequencing.
