CRISPRCasFinder is an updated version of CRISPRFinder and CasFinder, offering improved performance, a portable version, and integrated search for Cas proteins. It allows identification of CRISPR arrays and Cas proteins, with enhanced detection capabilities. The program is available online or as a standalone tool for Linux and macOS systems. It uses a rating system to assess the reliability of CRISPR arrays, with higher evidence levels indicating more likely true CRISPRs. CRISPRCasFinder also includes a method to determine the orientation of CRISPR arrays based on AT content in flanking regions. The program has been updated to include more accurate classification of Cas proteins, with new subtypes and improved detection methods. It has been tested against other CRISPR detection tools, showing high accuracy and performance. CRISPRCasFinder provides detailed outputs, including summary tables and formatted files for analysis. It is designed to facilitate the identification and classification of CRISPR arrays and Cas proteins, improving upon previous tools by integrating detection and typing functions. The program is available for use in both online and standalone formats, and is freely available with third-party software. It is expected to continue evolving with improved prediction methods and integration with new databases.CRISPRCasFinder is an updated version of CRISPRFinder and CasFinder, offering improved performance, a portable version, and integrated search for Cas proteins.
