Organic amendments play a crucial role in improving soil quality and mitigating soil degradation. This review examines the impact of organic amendments such as compost, vermicompost, biochar, and manure on soil properties across various soil types and climates. The study highlights that these amendments enhance soil organic matter, aggregate formation, and soil structure, while also improving water retention, pH levels, and nutrient availability. However, their effectiveness varies based on soil texture, application rates, and cropping systems, emphasizing the need for tailored management practices. Organic amendments can significantly improve soil ecosystem services and contribute to climate change adaptation. Future research should focus on tillage management, soil amendment interactions, and their long-term effectiveness.
