Stigma remains a major barrier in the global fight against HIV/AIDS, hindering prevention, testing, and treatment efforts. This review highlights the critical role of combating stigma in reducing HIV transmission. Stigma manifests in various forms, including enacted, perceived, and associative stigma, which negatively impact individuals' mental health, access to healthcare, and overall well-being. Stigma discourages people from seeking testing, treatment, and education, leading to delayed diagnosis and increased transmission. It also contributes to social isolation, discrimination, and marginalization, particularly among vulnerable populations. To address this, the review emphasizes the need for comprehensive strategies, including education and awareness campaigns, community engagement, policy reforms, healthcare provider training, and media advocacy. These efforts aim to foster a stigma-free environment that supports open discussions, early diagnosis, and effective treatment. Key recommendations include developing culturally sensitive information, establishing community support groups, empowering individuals to become advocates, and enacting laws to protect the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS. The review also underscores the importance of collaboration among government agencies, NGOs, healthcare providers, and affected communities to develop multisectoral approaches. Research is needed to evaluate the effectiveness of stigma reduction interventions and refine strategies for long-term impact. By addressing stigma, society can create an inclusive environment that supports effective HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and care, ultimately reducing the burden of the disease on affected populations.Stigma remains a major barrier in the global fight against HIV/AIDS, hindering prevention, testing, and treatment efforts.
