This paper provides a comprehensive review of cyberterrorism, its global repercussions, and countermeasures. Cyberterrorism involves using the internet and information technology to threaten or cause harm for political or ideological gain. It encompasses various forms of cyberattacks, such as data theft, manipulation, and disruption of critical infrastructure. The increasing reliance on digital infrastructure has made cyberterrorism a growing concern, presenting unique challenges for law enforcement and governments. The study covers recent cyber-attacks, including the WannaCry attack, Yahoo data breaches, and the SolarWinds supply chain attack, highlighting their impacts on economies, political stability, and public perception. The research aims to contribute to the development of better measurement tools, strategies, and policies to counter cyberterrorism. The survey methodology includes a literature review, case studies, and a review of countermeasures adopted by various countries.
