The study investigates the impact of developing socioemotional competencies on high school students at the "San José" Educational Unit in Quevedo, Ecuador, focusing on their relationship with emotional well-being and academic performance. It highlights the importance of strengthening these competencies to create a more inclusive, collaborative, and effective educational environment. Collaboration between teachers and the educational community is identified as a key factor in this process. The results show a positive perception among students towards the development of these competencies, emphasizing their impact on teamwork and collaboration in academic projects. The study underscores the need to integrate socioemotional competencies into the curriculum to improve students' emotional well-being and academic performance. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data to explore the impact of socioemotional competencies on students' academic achievement and emotional well-being. The study includes 89 students and 9 teachers, using surveys and structured interviews to gather data. The findings indicate that 98% of students positively value the impact of socioemotional competencies on their overall development, with 100% recognizing the positive impact of emotional management on their educational commitment. Additionally, 69% of students agree that empathy has improved their educational experience, and 65% consider socioemotional skills as equally important as academic skills for a comprehensive education. Strategies such as class lectures, group work, project-based learning, cooperative learning, and autonomous learning are discussed as effective methods for developing socioemotional competencies. The study also addresses challenges in integrating these competencies, such as student resistance and the need for time within the standard curriculum. Despite these challenges, the benefits observed include improved empathy, stress management, and conflict resolution, leading to a more harmonious classroom environment and better academic performance. The collaboration between teachers and the educational community is crucial for creating a supportive environment that fosters socioemotional development. The study concludes that effective pedagogical strategies, such as dialogue circles and group projects, are essential for promoting collaboration and empathy among students, contributing to a more inclusive and equitable educational environment. The findings emphasize the need for educators and educational authorities to reinforce and expand socioemotional development programs to optimize both emotional well-being and academic performance, preparing students for future challenges. The study investigates the impact of developing socioemotional competencies on high school students at the "San José" Educational Unit in Quevedo, Ecuador, focusing on their relationship with emotional well-being and academic performance.
