This project aims to design a user experience for the website of the Multimedia Engineering Program at the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada. The goal is to improve the academic and communication dynamics of the program by redesigning its web portal, which serves as a central hub for user interaction. The project involves developing a functional prototype in Figma and conducting usability tests with users to enhance the efficiency and ease of use of the website. The target audience includes prospective students, current students, faculty, and administrative staff, with a focus on students aged 16 to 25 who are familiar with technology and have skills in computer literacy, communication, and graphic expression.
The project's objectives include characterizing the target audience, designing the web portal, developing a functional prototype, and analyzing the usability of the proposed design through user evaluations. The justification for this project is the importance of a user-friendly website in providing easy access to information and services, as well as in promoting the institution's image. The project also addresses the need to improve the current ranking of the university's website, which is ranked 4751 globally by the Superior Council of Scientific Investigations (CSIS) in Spain.
The methodology used is Design Thinking, which involves five stages: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. The project includes a survey to gather user feedback and a benchmarking study to analyze the functionalities and designs of similar academic websites. The results of these studies informed the development of the website's architecture and design, focusing on key elements such as project showcases, institutional information, program activities, and student and faculty interests.
The final design includes wireframes and mockups, with a focus on simplicity, consistency, and visual balance. The website features a hero image, static navigation bar, and interactive elements like collapse plugins and cards to enhance user experience. The project aims to create a user-friendly and engaging platform that meets the needs of the target audience and contributes to the educational community's communication and interaction. This project aims to design a user experience for the website of the Multimedia Engineering Program at the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada.
