The use of digital tools in university students has become increasingly important in modern education. This study aimed to determine the significance of digital tools in the training of university students. The research was exploratory and descriptive, using Grounded Theory as a qualitative methodology to analyze data and discover new theories based on the study of students' competence needs. A literature review was conducted to establish a solid theoretical foundation, followed by the administration of a survey to a representative sample of 45 university students. The survey included questions covering access to technology, technological skills, institutional support, motivation, and attitudes toward using digital tools. Through regression analysis, the main findings were identified, highlighting the significant influence of technological access, technological skills, institutional support, motivation, and positive attitudes toward the use of digital tools. The study concludes that there is a need to acquire new skills in the training of university students by applying new technologies such as the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in their professional preparation. Key factors influencing the use of digital tools include access to technology, technological skills, institutional support, motivation, and positive attitudes toward digital tools. The study also highlights the importance of integrating AI as a learning tool in university curricula to enhance research and innovation processes. The findings emphasize the need for universities to update their strategies for incorporating digital tools, provide adequate institutional support, and foster a positive attitude toward technology among students. The study also identifies challenges such as limited access to technology, inadequate institutional support, and poor connectivity in some universities. The results suggest that universities should prioritize the development of digital skills, provide training for faculty, and ensure that digital tools are effectively integrated into the curriculum. The study concludes that the use of digital tools is essential for the development of digital competencies in university students, and that AI can play a significant role in enhancing the quality of education and professional preparation. The use of digital tools in university students has become increasingly important in modern education.
