Gamification, or the application of game design elements in non-game contexts, has become a significant tool in education for enhancing student motivation and social skills. This study reviews 16 articles published between 2019 and 2024 to analyze the effects of gamification on the development of social skills in education. The findings indicate that gamification transforms the educational process into a meaningful experience by leveraging factors such as motivation and social identification through play. It is closely linked to the development of skills, motivation, and commitment, and promotes various social competencies in a more or less homogeneous manner, fostering autonomy and essential skills for the future.
Gamification is an effective tool in teaching and learning, as it consolidates knowledge, social skills, and various capacities by increasing motivation in personal development activities, enhancing commitment, and improving the acquisition of social skills through immediate feedback and opportunities for experimentation. The study highlights that gamification is a creative and multidisciplinary strategy that offers substantial benefits to society, such as acquiring skills related to gender equality, environmental conservation, and community development through play.
The research also shows that gamification fosters social skills, including conflict resolution and assertive communication, and that it is a significant methodological strategy for generating behavioral change in students. The study concludes that gamification is an effective approach in education, promoting the development of social skills and enhancing the learning experience through interactive and collaborative activities. The use of gamification in education is supported by various studies that demonstrate its effectiveness in improving student engagement, motivation, and the acquisition of social skills.Gamification, or the application of game design elements in non-game contexts, has become a significant tool in education for enhancing student motivation and social skills.
