This review examines the use of ChatGPT in higher education, analyzing 28 studies published between 2022 and 2024. The research highlights the growing interest in generative artificial intelligence (AI) in education, with a focus on its impact on student learning, time management, and creativity. The majority of studies are quantitative, with a significant contribution from Asia, particularly China, and a lack of research from Latin America. The review identifies positive effects of ChatGPT on student learning and time optimization, but also points out limitations, including a lack of rigorous experimental research and ethical concerns. The study emphasizes the need for more controlled, representative studies to improve the validity of findings and to address the ethical implications of AI in education. It also calls for the adaptation of teaching methodologies to effectively integrate AI tools like ChatGPT into higher education. The review concludes that while ChatGPT shows promise in enhancing educational outcomes, further research is needed to fully understand its potential and challenges in the educational context. This review examines the use of ChatGPT in higher education, analyzing 28 studies published between 2022 and 2024.
