Industry 5.0 is the next industrial evolution, aiming to leverage human creativity in collaboration with efficient, intelligent, and accurate machines to achieve resource-efficient and user-preferred manufacturing solutions compared to Industry 4.0. This paper provides a survey-based tutorial on potential applications and supporting technologies of Industry 5.0. It introduces new concepts and definitions from various industry practitioners and researchers, discusses potential applications such as intelligent healthcare, cloud manufacturing, supply chain management, and manufacturing production, and explores supporting technologies like edge computing, digital twins, collaborative robots, IoT, blockchain, and 6G. The paper also highlights research challenges and open issues in realizing Industry 5.0, including security, privacy, human-robot co-working, scalability, and skilled workforce. Industry 5.0 focuses on mass customization, where humans guide robots, and aims to enhance production efficiency and create versatility between humans and machines. It emphasizes human-robot collaboration, increasing production speed and quality by assigning repetitive tasks to robots and critical tasks to humans. Industry 5.0 promotes more skilled jobs compared to Industry 4.0, as intellectual professionals work with machines. It also emphasizes sustainability, reducing waste generation through bio-economy and ensuring pollution-free environments. Industry 5.0 uses predictive analytics and operating intelligence to create accurate and stable decision models. The paper discusses the contributions of this work, including defining Industry 5.0, discussing its additional features, potential applications, and key technologies. It also highlights challenges and open issues in Industry 5.0, such as security, privacy, human-robot co-working, scalability, and skilled workforce. The paper concludes by outlining the organization of the rest of the article, which includes sections on definitions, state-of-the-art, applications, and enabling technologies.Industry 5.0 is the next industrial evolution, aiming to leverage human creativity in collaboration with efficient, intelligent, and accurate machines to achieve resource-efficient and user-preferred manufacturing solutions compared to Industry 4.0.
