2013, Vol. 41, Database issue | Geng Chen, Ziyun Wang, Dongqing Wang, Chengxiang Qiu, Mingxi Liu, Xing Chen, Qipeng Zhang, Guiying Yan, Qinghua Cui
The article introduces LncRNADisease, a comprehensive database for long-non-coding RNA (lncRNA) and disease associations. The database, accessible at http://ombi.bjmu.edu.cn/Lncrnadisease, curates approximately 480 entries of experimentally supported lncRNA-disease associations, covering 166 diseases. It also includes 478 entries of lncRNA interacting partners at various molecular levels, such as protein, RNA, miRNA, and DNA. The authors provide detailed annotations, including genomic information, sequences, references, and species, and normalize disease names and lncRNA dysfunction types. Additionally, they developed a bioinformatic method to predict novel lncRNA-disease associations, integrating this method and its predicted results into the database. The database is designed to support research on lncRNAs' roles in diseases and to aid in disease diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis. Future extensions include regular updates and the integration of new tools for analyzing lncRNA-disease associations. The article introduces LncRNADisease, a comprehensive database for long-non-coding RNA (lncRNA) and disease associations.
