This scoping review examines the management of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in primary care (PC), focusing on critical issues and strategies. The study was conducted using databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane, with a search strategy based on MESH terms "rheumatoid arthritis" and "primary care" from 2013 to 2023. Sixty-one articles were selected and analyzed qualitatively, addressing the following critical issues: difficulty and delay in diagnosis, access to rheumatological care, ineffective communication between GPs and specialists, poor patient education, lack of cardiovascular prevention, and increased healthcare costs. To address these issues, the review identified several strategies, including early diagnosis, quick access to rheumatology care, effective communication, active patient involvement, screening for risk factors, clinical audit, interdisciplinary patient management, digital health, and cost analysis. The review highlights the importance of improving the efficiency and effectiveness of RA management in PC to reduce morbidity and mortality associated with chronic diseases like RA.This scoping review examines the management of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in primary care (PC), focusing on critical issues and strategies.
