This study explores the motivations behind organizations adopting blockchain technology and the tangible impacts on their business operations. A systematic scoping review of 310 academic papers was conducted, selecting 40 relevant articles for in-depth analysis. Qualitative methods were employed to explore organizational motivations and the impacts of blockchain adoption. The analysis highlights a strong emphasis on the operational mechanisms of blockchain and its potential in business, but there is a gap in understanding the factors driving organizations to adopt this technology. The findings emphasize the necessity of organizational motivation in adopting blockchain and the significant impact it generates on businesses. These insights provide valuable guidance for academics and industry practitioners, offering strategies for more effective blockchain adoption and implementation. The study also underscores the importance of a multidisciplinary approach, integrating technical, business, and social perspectives to better understand the dynamics and implications of blockchain technology in a broader business context.
