This article discusses the implementation of online learning in the Biology Education Study Program at Jambi University during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of online learning in reducing the spread of the virus in higher education institutions. Researchers conducted interviews with students through Zoom cloud meetings and used Miles & Huberman's interactive analysis technique to analyze the data. The results showed that students had the necessary facilities to participate in online learning, and online learning offered flexibility, encouraging independent learning and student engagement. It also promoted social distancing behaviors, reducing the risk of virus transmission. However, challenges such as weak student supervision, poor internet signal in remote areas, and high internet data costs were identified. Despite these challenges, online learning was found to be beneficial in enhancing student independence, motivation, and the ability to express ideas. The study concluded that online learning was an effective solution for continuing education during the pandemic, although it required addressing technical and logistical challenges to ensure its success. This article discusses the implementation of online learning in the Biology Education Study Program at Jambi University during the COVID-19 pandemic.
