Community service activities aim to implement the Tri Dharma of higher education, including providing knowledge and ideas to mothers, fathers, children, and youth. This service was conducted on March 17, 2022, focusing on Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS). The topic was chosen due to Indonesia's tropical climate, where medical personnel play a crucial role in educating the public on maintaining clean and healthy lifestyles at home and in the surrounding environment. The goal is to reduce the risk of disease transmission and infection.
PHBS is essential for providing information and knowledge to prevent the spread of diseases. It is particularly important for children and adolescents, who often neglect healthy habits due to a lack of awareness. The activity aimed to enhance their understanding of PHBS, which is crucial for preventing the spread of diseases. The service was conducted in the Jl. Tapian Nauli No 9 Pasar 3 Ringroad area, targeting 12 participants, including children and adolescents.
The activity involved educating participants on the definition, benefits, objectives, and indicators of PHBS. The results showed that participants understood the concept, benefits, objectives, and indicators of PHBS. However, they still lacked full knowledge of PHBS. The activity also highlighted the importance of PHBS in preventing the spread of infectious diseases, especially among children and adolescents.
PHBS is a form of healthy living orientation in individual, family, and community cultures, aiming to improve, maintain, and protect health in physical, mental, spiritual, and social aspects. The benefits of PHBS include increasing public awareness of maintaining a clean and healthy lifestyle. It can be applied in various areas, such as schools, workplaces, households, and communities.
The implementation of PHBS in daily life has measurable indicators, such as using clean water, washing hands with soap, using a healthy toilet, eliminating mosquito larvae weekly, eating healthy and nutritious food, engaging in physical activity daily, and not smoking. The activity aimed to motivate the community to promote PHBS to help the government increase public awareness of healthy living behaviors. The service was conducted with gratitude to the university's leadership and staff for their support.Community service activities aim to implement the Tri Dharma of higher education, including providing knowledge and ideas to mothers, fathers, children, and youth.
