LESOTHO POPULATION AND HOUSING CENSUS

LESOTHO POPULATION AND HOUSING CENSUS

2008 | Government of Lesotho
The Lesotho Population and Housing Census was conducted in April 2006. A 10-page A4 questionnaire was designed using TeleForm for scanning and converted to a PDF for printing. It was printed by the Bureau of Statistics, government printing, and two local companies. Field questionnaires were checked for completeness, correct bubbling, correct number of respondents per household, and correct reference numbers. Data processing included extracting population data for electoral planning, manual editing and coding from September 2006 to December 2007, and data capturing. Scanning began in November 2006 with two scanners, followed by verification in December 2007. A second night shift was introduced due to a backlog, but was later cancelled due to scanner consumables shortages. In March 2008, a night shift was reintroduced for manual data entry. Data capturing was expected to be completed by early June 2008, with data cleaning, tabulation, and analysis starting in July 2008. The results were intended to be released by the end of 2008. The census was primarily funded by the Government of Lesotho, with support from UNFPA, UNDP, UNICEF, the European Union, and Irish Aid.The Lesotho Population and Housing Census was conducted in April 2006.
