This study uses bibliometric analysis to examine the historical and current research trends in energy transition and green finance, and to predict future research directions. A total of 328 articles from the Web of Science database were analyzed using co-citation and co-word analysis. The results reveal three main clusters in co-citation analysis and four main clusters in co-word analysis. The research highlights the growing importance of energy transition and green finance, but also points out the need for further in-depth investigation to fully understand the research domain. The study is the first to use bibliometric analysis to explore the interrelationship between energy transition and green finance, providing valuable insights into the rapidly expanding field. The study identifies influential publications, maps the research landscape, and forecasts emerging trends. The findings suggest that green finance plays a crucial role in promoting sustainable development, reducing carbon emissions, and supporting the transition to renewable energy. The study also highlights the importance of financial instruments, such as green bonds, in facilitating green finance and energy transition. The research provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of energy transition and green finance research, and offers insights into future research directions. The study emphasizes the need for further research to address the challenges of balancing economic growth with environmental sustainability, and to explore the integration of green finance into traditional governance and management structures. The findings suggest that green finance is an important tool for achieving sustainable development, and that further research is needed to fully understand its role in energy transition and sustainable governance. The study also highlights the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on economic growth and carbon emissions, and suggests that green finance can play a key role in facilitating economic recovery while maintaining environmental sustainability. The research provides a valuable framework for understanding the relationship between energy transition and green finance, and offers insights into future research directions. The study underscores the importance of interdisciplinary research in this field, and highlights the need for further exploration of the integration of green finance into traditional governance and management structures. The findings suggest that green finance is a critical component of sustainable development, and that further research is needed to fully understand its role in energy transition and sustainable governance.
