2017 | Kapatus Nikita, Marekha I., Makarenko T.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Sumy State University, Faculty of Finance, Economics and Management named after Oleg Balatskyy, Department of Economic Theory, organized an international scientific and practical conference on "International Economic Relations and Sustainable Development" in Sumy, Ukraine, on May 5-6, 2017. The conference focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which were adopted at the UN Summit on Sustainable Development in New York in September 2015. The SDGs consist of 17 goals and 167 targets, aiming to guide global and national development actions for the next 15 years. The SDGs are based on international human rights law and emphasize the realization of human rights for all people without discrimination. The goals include ending poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation and infrastructure, reduced inequalities, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, life below water, life on land, peace, justice and strong institutions, and partnerships for the goals. The SDGs also emphasize the creation of a more peaceful, just and inclusive society free of fear and violence, democratic governance, the rule of law, access to justice, personal integrity, and a supportive international environment. The new agenda seeks to ensure universal respect for equality and non-discrimination, including gender equality, and reaffirms the commitment of all states to respect, protect and promote human rights without any difference. The conference also discussed global natural resources and sustainable development issues, emphasizing the importance of classifying natural resources based on their ecological properties and the needs of future generations.
