This systematic literature review explores the challenges in implementing the Independent Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka) in elementary schools. The study, conducted between 2021 and 2023, identifies five main challenges: (1) inadequate infrastructure; (2) the need to improve teacher human resources in using technology; (3) difficulties in conducting learning evaluations; (4) conditions of students, parents, and the environment; and (5) inequality in government policies. The research highlights the need for improvements in teacher training, infrastructure, and policy consistency to support the implementation of the curriculum. The curriculum, which emphasizes student-centered learning and the use of technology, aims to foster student development in line with their potential, interests, and talents. However, the implementation faces challenges such as the lack of preparedness for teachers, insufficient resources, and the need for continuous professional development. The study concludes that the implementation of the Independent Curriculum is faced with various educational challenges, and solutions include enhancing teacher training, improving infrastructure, and ensuring policy consistency. The findings emphasize the importance of a systematic approach to address these challenges and improve the quality of education in elementary schools. This systematic literature review explores the challenges in implementing the Independent Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka) in elementary schools.
