The ARRIVE guidelines 2.0 are updated reporting standards for animal research to improve transparency and reproducibility. Originally developed in 2010, the guidelines aimed to ensure that in vivo experiments were reported thoroughly, allowing others to evaluate methods and results. Despite widespread support, adherence has been inconsistent, leading to the release of ARRIVE 2.0. This version organizes information into two sets: the "ARRIVE Essential 10," which includes minimum requirements for reporting, and the "Recommended Set," which provides additional context. The guidelines now include explanations and elaborations for each item, helping researchers, reviewers, and editors better assess the quality of animal research. The updated guidelines also emphasize the importance of study design, sample size justification, and data accessibility, aligning with FAIR data principles. ARRIVE 2.0 is compatible with other reporting guidelines and supports the NIH and MDAR standards. The guidelines aim to improve the reliability of animal research by promoting rigorous methodology and transparent reporting, ensuring that findings are reproducible and beneficial to society. The revision involved a Delphi exercise with experts from various fields to prioritize items and enhance clarity. The guidelines are now widely endorsed and used to improve the quality of research publications. The ARRIVE guidelines 2.0 are updated reporting standards for animal research to improve transparency and reproducibility.
