SIMBAD is the reference database for identifying and bibliographing astronomical objects, containing over 2.7 million objects with their basic data, bibliographic references, and selected observational measurements. Developed and maintained by the Centre de Données astronomiques de Strasbourg (CDS), SIMBAD is built with contributions from various institutes. The database prioritizes multi-wavelength coverage and supports large research projects. It offers a unique perspective on astronomical data through careful cross-identification of objects from catalogues, lists, and journal articles. Key features include a comprehensive bibliographic survey, a Dictionary of Nomenclature, and a robust query mechanism. SIMBAD is accessible via a WWW interface and other user interfaces, and it is updated daily through collaborations with bibliographers. The database is charged, with user accounts available from CDS and special arrangements for users from specific countries.SIMBAD is the reference database for identifying and bibliographing astronomical objects, containing over 2.7 million objects with their basic data, bibliographic references, and selected observational measurements.
