This article introduces Template Analysis, a form of thematic analysis widely used in qualitative psychology research. The authors outline the technique, its epistemological position, and provide three case studies to illustrate its diverse applications. Template Analysis emphasizes hierarchical coding while maintaining flexibility, allowing researchers to adapt the process to their specific needs. It can be applied from various epistemological positions, including realist, contextual constructivist, and subtle realist approaches. The article highlights the method's distinctive features, such as the use of a priori themes, and discusses its advantages and limitations. Template Analysis is particularly useful for handling large datasets and is flexible enough to be tailored to different research topics and resources. The authors conclude that Template Analysis offers a clear, systematic, and flexible approach to data analysis in qualitative psychology research, making it a valuable tool for researchers. This article introduces Template Analysis, a form of thematic analysis widely used in qualitative psychology research.
