This study investigates the impact of technological context (TC) on the adoption of IoT smart home (SH) technologies in Jordan, using the technologies-organization-environment (TOE) framework and social exchange theory (SET). The research focuses on the influence of security and privacy concerns on behavioral intention to adopt IoT SH solutions, and explores the role of trust (TR) as a mediator and IT knowledge (ITK) as a moderator. Data from 315 responses of executives in both listed and non-listed businesses were analyzed using smart partial least squares (PLS). The results indicate that TC significantly influences the behavioral intention (BI) to adopt IoT SH, with TR acting as a mediator and ITK as a moderator. The study highlights the importance of addressing security, privacy, and availability concerns, as well as building TR in service providers, to ensure the effective implementation of IoT SH in Jordan. The findings suggest that ITK plays a crucial role in moderating the relationship between TC and BI, emphasizing the need for enhancing IT knowledge to improve adoption rates. The research contributes to the understanding of factors influencing IoT SH adoption in developing countries and provides insights for decision-makers to prioritize privacy protection and TR in service providers. This study investigates the impact of technological context (TC) on the adoption of IoT smart home (SH) technologies in Jordan, using the technologies-organization-environment (TOE) framework and social exchange theory (SET).
