This study aims to understand the current status and research progress in the field of metaverse through bibliometric analysis using CiteSpace. The analysis is based on 921 papers retrieved from the Web of Science core database using the keyword "metaverse." The results indicate that Ireland currently has the highest research impact, while China has the largest number of publications but insufficient impact. The research hotspots include virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, digital twins, and artificial intelligence. The study also identifies several research frontiers, such as artificial intelligence and utaut2, and highlights the need for international cooperation and interdisciplinary research. The paper concludes that while metaverse research is in its early stages, it has significant potential for future development and will gradually penetrate various fields with many challenges.
