Online gambling has become a significant issue among students, often seen as a quick way to earn money, even becoming a primary source of income for some. However, it poses serious concerns due to its negative impact on the future of Indonesia's youth, altering their mindset about earning a living and leading to less productive personalities. Students sometimes use tuition fees for gambling without considering risks, potentially threatening their ability to pay educational costs. This study aims to identify factors driving students into online gambling, including social, economic, situational, learning environment, perception of winning, and addiction. Obstacles include secrecy, resistance to advice, stubbornness, and reluctance to admit dangers. Online gambling is increasingly prevalent, with individuals engaging in virtual gambling through online platforms. The process involves online transactions, and banks play a role in managing funds. The availability of online gambling sites and easy access through electronic banking has made it difficult for authorities to regulate. This lack of regulation allows online gambling to thrive, attracting more people to try it for potential profits. Students are particularly affected, using online gambling as an alternative to earn money, sometimes as a primary income source. This behavior is seen as normal and part of their lifestyle. The lack of supervision has led to gambling becoming a habit, creating a pragmatic attitude and dependency on luck, which can lead to social issues and addiction. Gambling failures can lead to debt and poverty, increasing crime rates. Thus, online gambling has both direct and indirect negative impacts on individuals and society. Online gambling significantly changes income strategies, creating a lazy attitude. Among students, it affects their thinking from visionary to pragmatic, reduces critical thinking, and leads them into online gambling circles. Inadequate solutions and strict penalties for online gambling give students freedom to continue the activity without realizing it contradicts Indonesian social and cultural norms. This study used a qualitative method with in-depth literature analysis. The results show that online gambling is illegal and regulated by law. Online gambling can become addictive, with players increasing bets after winning. The ease of access and the promise of profits attract many people. The deposit and withdrawal processes involve bank transfers, with online gambling providers offering bonuses to retain players. Students often engage in online gambling, which has become a habit since childhood. They use various games like football betting, sikbo, dragon tiger, qq, and ceme. To fund gambling, they use tuition fees, pawn items, borrow money, or sell assets. This activity has become an inseparable part of their daily lives, with serious financial impacts. Factors influencing gambling behavior include social pressure, marketing strategies, and media influence. Perceptions of winning and financial difficulties also play a role. The consequences of online gambling are significant, affecting students' social values and religious participation. Educational and alternative income programs are recommended to prevent students from gambling, along with counseling and collaboration between institutions, families, and the government. Further research is needed to understand the factors influencing student gambling behavior and evaluate existing prevention programs.Online gambling has become a significant issue among students, often seen as a quick way to earn money, even becoming a primary source of income for some.
