The diagnostic criteria have evolved from relying solely on tender points to a more comprehensive evaluation, reflecting the condition's multifaceted nature. The etiology and pathophysiology of fibromyalgia involve genetic predisposition, neurotransmitter dysregulation, central sensitization, and immune system involvement.
